Player-Coaches for 2026 Vic Champs

For the 2026 Victorian State Championships, the VTPC is again supporting player-coaches and people wanting to get some (more?) competition experience.

A “player-coach” is an experienced competition skydiver who trains and competes in a team with less experienced skydivers, and there’s no better way to progress and learn.

Under this initiative, eligible player-coaches will get jumps covered for training and competing at the Victorian State Championships scheduled for the 14th & 15th of November at Commando Skydivers.

For 2026, some tunnel time at iFly Melbourne will also be covered as part of training, which provides teams with specific individual flying skills and assures this training component isn’t hampered by weather.

What’s on offer:

  • Financial assistance to eligible player-coaches taking teams to the Vic Champs
  • Each player-coach in the team will have their training slots covered for up to 3 training days (15 jumps) and 15 minutes of tunnel time
  • Note: one of the training days may be replaced by 15 minutes of tunnel time
  • The player-coach will also have entry and jumps covered to compete at the Vic Champs

Eligible player-coaches must:

  • Be Victorian skydivers in a team discipline (e.g. 4-Way FS, 2-Way VFS)
  • Be training with the team at Victorian drop zones and competing at Vic Champs
  • Develop a training plan with a minimum of 3 training days prior to Vic Champs
  • For FS, have competed at the national level in a category higher than the category you’re player-coaching
  • For VFS, have a FF coach rating and relevant experience

How funding will be provided:

  • The player-coach is to submit an application via the form below
  • The VTPC will then be in contact to confirm team training plans
  • Once approved, training jumps will be reimbursed after each training day and after competing at Vic Champs
  • Tunnel time will be reimbursed at off-peak tunnel rates only for the Player-Coach
